About a Better Blue –
Our Eco-Friendly Denim Line
What the jeans of the future will look like? In any case blue – but also green. A BETTER BLUE is our eco-friendly denim line. We have developed it with our long-established partners in Italy and are pushing it forward together – because environmentally friendly production is a matter which is very close to our heart.
In addition to the Candiani weaving mill near Milan, our cooperation partners include the Everest laundry near Venice. Candiani uses forty per cent cotton from sustainably managed plantations for all A BETTER BLUE denims. And for the washes, Everest relies on innovative processes, some of which do not require any water (and that in a laundry!), no chemicals and little electricity.
Everest uses various eco-friendly treatments and achieves used-denim looks with laser or ozone gas to minimise water consumption and the use of chemicals.
Handmade in Italy
Many used-look details of the denims are created entirely by hand, for example with sanders or sandpaper.
Everest uses environmentally friendly alternatives to the classic stonewash process. The company works with artificial stones or achieves the typical effects by inserting an abrasive drum into the washing machine.
The company's 1,000 square metre wastewater treatment plant treats 1,200 cubic metres of water every day, for which Everest uses a sophisticated bacterial system instead of chemicals.
The Everest laundry –
a look behind the scenes
A pronounced passion for denim is only one of the characteristics we share with Everest. The company from Piombino Dese, a small town near Venice, has been our partner since 2007. With many years of expertise, it takes care of the special washes of our Closed denim. Everest, like us, attaches great importance to environmentally friendly processes and develops new standards – for jeans that are as sustainable as possible.
The company, which was founded in 1976 and has 80 employees, uses denim-washing processes for A BETTER BLUE that require less to no water and do not use chemicals. Some techniques are completely handmade.
Everest has been working with the Italian weaving mill Candiani for over ten years which is our long-established denim producer and A BETTER BLUE cooperation partner. Together, we develop the jeans of the future.
