At Closed we are loyal. Many of our manufacturing partners have been with us for decades and we see them as part of the family. These relationships are built on trust and form the basis for everything we do. For us, sustainability also means creating the same conditions for all workers. Today and tomorrow.
We know what matters to us: ensuring fair treatment for everyone. At Closed it’s so much a part of who we are that we rarely mention it. We simply stick to the basic principles of togetherness and cooperation. And follow a few agreements too.
Our managers, designers and apparel engineers regularly visit our production sites and are in constant dialogue with our suppliers. These longstanding partnerships have resulted in a Code of Conduct for ecological and social guidelines – one based on mutual trust and followed as a matter of course. It is signed bi-annually by all our partners and guarantees:
- fair, statutory wages
- paid overtime
- fixed working hours and a maximum 48-hour working week
- safe and hygienic working conditions
- no child labour
A Sense of Tradition
We are a family company and particularly enjoy working with other family-run businesses. We remain their trusted partner – sometimes over several generations. This means we can help ensure that age-old knowledge isn’t lost, but passed on. And constantly improved.
Traditional craftsmanship benefits from modern expertise. That is why we help our partners develop new technologies for sustainable and advanced production. Our double-face coats are one example. To make them, new machines were specifically acquired that could expertly finish the elaborate, invisible seams on both sides. And in 2015 we raised the bar once again by using Thinsulate™ Featherless by 3M, a down substitute. We were one of the first German companies to process the synthetic, animal-friendly material as insulating padding for our jackets and coats.
